Bucks Confidence In Long-Term Commitment From Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Taken A Step Back After Botched Bogdan Bogdanovic Trade

With just one year remaining on his contract, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the NBA’s biggest target right now.

As hopefuls plan and orchestrate how their pitch for the 2x MVP, the Bucks are doing whatever they can to convince him to stay, which means they will spare no expense to ensure their team has the best possible chance of winning a championship this upcoming season.

Unfortunately, the trade they had lined up for sharpshooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic fell apart, and they missed out on a high-quality player. To make matters worse, Bogy was a guy that specifically appealed to Giannis, being described as his “preferred addition.”

Bogdan was Giannis’ “preferred addition” this offseason.

He admired the European’s toughness and swagger and viewed him as someone you “could go to war with in the postseason.”

For whatever reason, the Bucks failed to secure the Bogdanovic deal, and it has apparently compromised their confidence in keeping Giannis past the 2021 offseason.

The Greek Freak is a 2x MVP, 4x All-Star, and reigning Defensive Player of the Year. This past season, he averaged 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game on 55.3% shooting.

With countless suitors lined up for his services, and no indication which way he’s leaning, it’s anyone’s guess where he’ll end up this upcoming summer. For Milwaukee, it seems their confidence has waned a bit in light of their recent circumstances — but we’ll see soon enough how things end up.
