For many people around the U.S., Thanksgiving is a time of family, friends, and feasting. For others, however, it’s just a reminder of the things they are lacking.

To help those currently struggling to put food on the table, NBA legend and basketball icon Michael Jordan announced his donation of over $2 million in proceeds to food banks in Chicago and the Carolinas.

It is yet another action of kindness and compassion by Jordan, who has donated millions of dollars to charities since his last retirement in the early 2000s.

“In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to pause and give thanks,” Jordan said in a statement provided by ‘Feeding America’ on Twitter.

“I am proud to be donating additional proceeds from The Last Dance to Feeding America and its member food banks in the Carolinas and Chicago to help feed America’s hungry.”

He also famously donated $100 million to racial and social justice organizations amid the Black Lives Matter protests.

Needless to say, Jordan is a man who is taking action in trying to make this world, and his community, a better place. Even decades after his career in basketball ended, the legend is finding new ways to make an impact on those around him.
