Carmelo Anthony had a jaw-dropping realization when he realized the amount of clout the NBA held, one of them including the fact that the league was part of the feds.

Speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Anthony recalled his honest and riveting conversation with then-NBA Commissioner David Stern, and what the latter said gave the former New York Knicks star chills.

“You gonna leave that alone, I know who you with. I know where you live at; I know where they live at. I know when you close your eyes, I know when you wake up,” Anthony said. “He’s telling me, ‘I know what they’re doing. You either tell them to stop or you gotta cut them off.’ And I’m like, ‘Damn. How the f***?’ That’s when I knew the NBA was a part of the feds.”

To set the context, a brawl broke out between the Denver Nuggets and the Knicks during the 2006 season, resulting in the league suspending seven players in total. Anthony was punished for punching former Knick Mardy Collins and received a 15-game suspension.

When Anthony eventually spoke to Stern about the incident and the punishment that was meted out, the former head honcho gave him an eye-opening explanation that outlined just how powerful the NBA was and that it was more than just an organization with tons of money.

The good thing was that Anthony knew what to do after as he rapidly made a name for himself as one of the best players to play the sport.

Kevin Durant Could Push For The Phoenix Suns To Sign Carmelo Anthony

As Carmelo Anthony’s future in the NBA continues to remain unknown, the sharpshooter’s fans received some positive news in the form of reports that said Kevin Durant could push the Phoenix Suns to sign the veteran.

Anthony was one of the bright spots in the Lakers’ dismal 33-49 campaign last season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game on 44% shooting. He proved that he’s still got enough basketball left in him, and that may prompt Durant to make the move.

The duo has played enough for Team USA and during the NBA All-Star weekend, and the man well on his way to becoming a Hall of Famer might just get one more shot to be a contributor for a team that’s already pegged to the distance this season.

Only time will tell if Anthony will indeed get another chance in the league.
