Devin Booker is arguably the best shooting guard in the game today. He is a complete three-level scorer, and he is currently putting up some elite numbers, averaging 28.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 5.8 APG for the Phoenix Suns.

There is no doubt that Devin Booker is an elite player but it seems as though he often flows under the radar. Recently Channing Frye lauded Devin Booker, telling everyone to “put some respect on his name”, and claiming that Booker is playing like an MVP player.

Can we start this conversaiton of Devin Bookers is playing like an MVP… At some point we’re going to put a little respect on his name. 51 as efficient as he shot, is crazy. Watching the game, you were just like nobody has any chance of guarding anything this dude is doing. And its glorious to see. He’s genuinely a nice guy, and he’s good for the NBA… Look what he’s doing without Chris Paul: they’re still an elite team.

There is no doubt that Devin Booker is an elite player, and if he keeps up the same production, it is quite possible that he will get more MVP buzz. Some people thought he deserved MVP last season, and we’ll see if he manages to enter the MVP conversation this year.

Devin Booker Doesn’t Care About The MVP Race

Previously, Devin Booker spoke out about the MVP race. He pointed out that he’s “never been that type” to care about that, adding that there are “certain people” the league wants to “push more than others”.

Booker: “I know. I feel you, but I’ve never been that type. And historically speaking, if you look at last year, like somebody (else) might have got MVP (in his situation) if it wasn’t me. Best team in the league with whatever (production). But the criteria changes, the media changes. I think it’s good for the NBA, (but) there’s just certain people that they want to push more than others. And that’s just the nature of life.”

There’s no doubt that Devin Booker’s numbers and team positioning last season suggested that he had a good case for MVP. However, Nikola Jokic was a worthy candidate as well, as he had a historic year.

Hopefully, we see Devin Booker win the MVP award at some point in the future. He is only scratching his prime, and perhaps we’ll see him have even better seasons in the future.
