June 29th, 2022, was the day when Miles Bridges’ life turned upside down. It was then that the forward was arrested in Los Angeles for felony domestic violence, and while he was released on bail, it was only a matter of time before charges were officially filed against him.

That happened last night, as charges of felony domestic violence, as well as child abuse, were laid on his head. His actions from back then were truly disgusting, and it was heartbreaking to see the pictures released by his wife about the harm she had suffered at his hands. The Hornets released a statement after the news regarding the charges broke out, and they said they’ll be monitoring the situation.

“We are aware of the charges that were filed today against Miles Bridges. These are very serious charges that we will continue to monitor. As this is a legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”

As they said, they can’t comment too much on a legal matter, and monitoring the situation is the right thing to do. What is a bit concerning, however, is that while reports initially indicated that the team was going to pull Bridges’ qualifying offer, they are yet to do it as per NBA insider Marc Stein.

So if you thought that Bridges was done in the NBA after such serious charges were filed against him, then you might be mistaken. We have seen time after time that teams will overlook even serious offenses if a player is talented, and there is no doubting Bridges’ talent, as he was set to get a max contract this offseason. He is coming off his best season as a professional in 2021-22, where he averaged 20.2 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while also being a fine contributor on the defensive end. Someone with his skill set will always attract some interest from teams, but we hope no one pulls the trigger and signs him up.
