Chris Paul Agrees To 4-Year, $120 Million Contract With Phoenix Suns

The Spun

In a move everybody was expecting, NBA veteran Chris Paul will be returning to the Phoenix Suns.

What everybody wasn’t expecting, however, is the enormous and completely unorthodox contract CP3 has earned at 36-years-old.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the 11x  All-Star has inked a new deal with the Suns that will have him making roughly $30 million per year going into his 40th birthday.

Re-signing CP3 was a no-brainer for Phoenix, who has enjoyed a lot of success as a result of his playmaking and leadership.

But giving Paul such a long-term deal is a huge risk for the Suns. Not only is Paul past 35, but he also has a long history of injuries in the past, including this past season. Reports indicate he has opted to get wrist surgery.

Still, CP3 has already proven countless wrong with his play over the past few years — so who’s to say he can’t continue to shock the world?

For the Suns’ sake, they better hope their investment pays off, or they might never hear the end of it.
