Shooters are an important part of the modern NBA. Every team could use a player who shoots well from beyond the arc, and sometimes hits extremely difficult shots on the perimeter. That player for the Miami Heat is Duncan Robinson, a 6’7 forward who shot 40.8% from 3PT range this season. Robinson was bound to get interest from other franchises in free agency, but it seems as though the Miami Heat have decided to retain the forward on a new lucrative deal.

The Miami Heat have signed Duncan Robinson to a new contract that is worth around $90 million over 5 years, around $18 million annually. While some may suggest that this is an overpay, the fact is that 3PT sharpshooters are expensive in the modern NBA due to high demand from all across the league. A notable fact is, that Duncan Robinson’s contract is the largest ever that’s been signed by an undrafted player.

The Miami Heat have now given Duncan Robinson and Jimmy Butler extensions, as well as acquiring Kyle Lowry from the Toronto Raptors. It seems as though they are gearing up for another big run, and their team certainly has some talent to make some noise in the Eastern Conference. There is no question that if the Heat can gel together, they will be a dangerous squad next season.
