Kendrick Perkins has the utmost respect for Chris Paul after achieving one big goal in his career.
Everybody was in awe of Paul after the veteran point guard beat the odds and his demons, making it to the NBA Finals for the first time in 16 years of his career. The Point God put up a show in Game 6 of the 2021 Western Conference Finals, confirming he’s ready to get to the big stage.
He came a long way, and it’s fair to say everybody is happy that he finally made it to the biggest series of all. The most important part of this is that Paul didn’t create superteams to win the title. Instead, he worked hard with a group of young players that believed in him and the coach since day one.
Perkins had nothing but great words for Chris after he finally made it to the Finals, pointing out that his journey to the series was full of sacrifices. He didn’t take shortcuts and worked hard to get to this point.
“Yes, CP3’s finals run is one of the most impressive ever b/c of HOW he did it. He didn’t cheat the process by joining a Super Team! He went down to Phoenix and got it out the mud and led a young group of guys with Zero play off experience to the Finals! Kudos CP3! Carry on…” Perkins tweeted on Thursday.

After the Suns clinched their spot in the Finals, the former center reminded everybody that he had picked CP3 as the 2021 MVP.

It’s hard to disagree with Perkins on this one. Paul never joined superteams to chase that ring. Yes, he played with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan on the Clippers. Still, they weren’t superstars with the talents of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, or Stephen Curry.
When he went to Houston, he teamed up with James Harden, creating a deadly duo in H-Town. Then again, that wasn’t a superteam. Now that he’s in Phoenix, he had two talented partners in Devin Booker and one of the best big men in the game in Deandre Ayton.
Paul has done a terrific job leading this team of inexperienced players to the Finals. They beat the defending champions Lakers and swept the 2021 MVP Nikola Jokic before taking a big challenge in the Los Angeles Clippers. It took 16 years for CP3 to play in the Finals, but that doesn’t bother him. He’s living his best life right now, and nothing can change that.
