Chris Paul is proving that age is just a number with the way he has been playing over the last few years. CP3 is in his late 30s, but is still playing at an extremely high level, and has helped transform the Phoenix Suns from a fledgling team to a contender in just a matter of 2 years. But even CP3 is vulnerable to one thing; bad officiating.

During the Phoenix Suns’ latest game against the Houston Rockets, Chris Paul had garnered a technical during the early part of the game. And in the second half, Paul incurred a second technical for accidentally bumping into a referee while walking. But the referee was not happy about it, as he gave Paul his second technical, and thus ejected him from the game.

After the game, the Pool Report showed the referee may not have had a good reason for ejecting Paul from the game. When pressed about the second technical and subsequent ejection for CP3, the referee didn’t provide any further explanation for the decision and just kept repeating their decision.

The Pool Report interview was conducted by Kellan Olson (Arizona Sports) with Crew Chief Mark Lindsay following tonight’s Houston Rockets at Phoenix Suns Game

QUESTION: Why was Chris Paul assessed his first technical foul?

QUESTION: Why was Chris Paul assessed his second technical foul?

LINDSAY: The second technical foul was assessed for making contact with a game official.

QUESTION: Was Paul’s second technical foul, resulting in ejection, deemed an escalation from the first technical?

LINDSAY: The second technical foul was assessed for making contact with a game official.

QUESTION: And that was believed to be on purpose from Chris right?

LINDSAY: The second technical foul was for making contact with a game official.

CP3 has every right to be upset, as it was very innocent, and not at all intentional. These kinds of decisions are usually the reason why a lot of players, coaches, and fans are unhappy with the way referees call the game and call fouls for some of the most unnecessary infractions.

Paul and the Suns will be hoping to put this game in the rear-view mirror, and continue their winning ways. Paul has been spectacular and has been a big part of the franchise being the best team in the NBA at the moment.
