Chris Paul Will Be The Weakest Player In The Warriors Starting Five If He Starts, NBA Analyst Underestimates The Legendary Point Guard

NBA analyst claims Chris Paul will potentially be the weakest link in the Warriors' starting lineup for the 2023-24 season

The Warriors traded for Chris Paul in exchange for Jordan Poole

Paul has had a legendary career in the league where he is yet to come off the bench even once

Chris Paul is widely regarded as one of the best point guards of the past few decades. Paul is 38 years old and hopes to win the first NBA Championship of his career after getting traded to the Warriors.

But there is no guarantee that he will start for the Golden State Warriors. Keeping that in mind, NBA analyst Andy Bailey of Bleacher Reporter labeled Chris Paul as the weakest link for the Dubs, of course, if he starts for the team.

"Chris Paul has played 1,363 regular and postseason games in the NBA," Bailey wrote. "He's started every single one. So, it wouldn't be at all surprising to see Steve Kerr keep that streak alive and start an ultra-small lineup. The Golden State Warriors were an eye-popping plus-22.1 points per 100 possessions with Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Green and Looney on the floor. That lineup was largely responsible for a championship in 2022."

Bailey added: "Like Denver's group, it doesn't really have a weak link. But if we have to settle on one, it's Looney. He's an underrated passer and can be a dominant rebounder, but he doesn't provide loads of production, and he seems like the obvious candidate to be potentially replaced by CP3."

Chris Paul averaged 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 8.9 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season. He is certainly a phenomenal player despite being 38 years old. Keeping that in mind, Bailey underestimated Paul. The Warriors may start Chris Paul at point guard and shift Stephen Curry to the shooting guard, while Klay Thompson may play at small forward.

Chris Paul On Potentially Coming Off The Bench For The Warriors

Chris Paul is one of the best point guards from the last 20 years. As we mentioned earlier, he is yet to come off the bench in his career.

But there is a possibility he may have to do that with the Warriors. Paul gave a hilarious response to that possibility.

"I don't know what the situation is going to be yet. I think that will be for us to figure out once we get going," Paul said. "It’ll be a conversation for us when camp starts. Me and Steve have talked or whatnot. You know, that ain’t something where you’d be like, ‘What up, man? You’re not starting.’ I think we’ll figure all that stuff out."

As Paul said, things will be much clearer when the 2023-24 season actually starts. Until then, there will be a lot of uncertainty about Paul's role with the Warriors.
