The team’s most recent move involved a free-agency acquisition. Christian Wood signed a two-year deal with the Lakers, and the big man is an absolute steal for the veteran minimum. It seems as though the Lakers already have a role mapped out for the talented big man.

“The early expectation is that Wood will come off the bench with Rui Hachimura the likely frontcourt starter next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, according to team sources,” said Jovan Buha of The Athletic. “At a minimum, Wood will be the primary backup center behind Davis while occasionally teaming with him in two-big lineups. He should average around 20 minutes per game when everyone is healthy.”

It will be very interesting to see how effective Christian Wood can be for the Los Angeles Lakers in a limited role. His offensive prowess suggests that he can be a great sixth man, and his 3PT shooting ability should make him a solid fit with Anthony Davis in the frontcourt.

This past season with the Dallas Mavericks, Christian Wood averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 37.6% from 3PT range. Though it hasn’t worked out for him on other franchises, perhaps he will find a way to fit in with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Christian Wood Has Always Wanted To Be On The Los Angeles Lakers

There is no doubt that the Los Angeles Lakers are a premier franchise in the NBA, with a history of winning consistently. The location in Los Angeles is obviously nice as well. A number of factors have consistently ensured that players want to suit up for the Los Angeles Lakers. In fact recently, Christian Wood reacted to his signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, claiming that he has always wanted to play for the franchise.

Hopefully, Christian Wood can find success with the Los Angeles Lakers. He can prove that he is a winning player next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and perhaps he can earn a long-term lucrative deal at the end of the 2023-24 season.

The Lakers Are Confident That Christian Wood Is A Good Signing For The Franchise

Though other franchises have had Christian Wood and decided to pass on him, it is clear that the Los Angeles Lakers are hyped about his addition. In fact, a previous report revealed that the Lakers are confident that the Christian Wood gamble will pay off for them.

“With head coach Darvin Ham, James, and Davis setting the tone and culture, the Lakers are optimistic that Wood will buy into the team in a way he’s never fully bought into his previous stops.”

There is no doubt that sometimes, all it takes for a player to figure things out is the right environment. The Los Angeles Lakers clearly believe they have that for Wood, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
