  • Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are fine with the way the 76ers are handling the James Harden drama
  • Maxey has been waiting on a contract extension from a franchise
  • There are multiple teams interested in a James Harden trade

Guard James Harden has requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, and as of right now, both sides have made no progress on the situation. Many people have suggested that this could lead to a domino effect, with MVP Joel Embiid potentially asking out from the franchise if the situation isn’t resolved.

With that being said, it seems as though Joel Embiid is comfortable with the way the team is handling the situation. It was recently reported by Ramona Shelburne of ESPN that the MVP has provided “assurances” amidst all the drama with Harden. Young star Tyrese Maxey has done the same as well.

“Thus far, Embiid has given the franchise assurances he is OK riding out the current drama with Harden, sources said. How long he gives them to resolve the matter remains to be seen.

Maxey has done the same, even waiting on a contract extension this summer so the franchise can preserve its ability to operate under the salary cap and improve the team in the future.”

There is no doubt that the Philadelphia 76ers are a much better team with James Harden or with a good trade return from moving him than without either of those things. Hopefully, we see Daryl Morey find some way to keep the 76ers as a contender with or without James Harden, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

Tyrese Maxey Said The 76ers Will Try To Win The Championship Even Without James Harden

Even if James Harden decides not to play for the Philadelphia 76ers, they are still a solid team. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey are enough to be competitive, especially in the Eastern Conference. In fact, we saw Tyrese Maxey say that the 76ers will still try to win a championship without James Harden not too long ago.

“We have to go out there and expect to win. Expect to still try to complete our goal. It’ll definitely be even more difficult now that one of our best players has decided as of right now he doesn’t want to come back and play.”

There is no doubt that the team is still confident in their abilities, with or without James Harden. Even if he ends up leaving in a trade, if the team can get a good player or two in his place, they will be just fine.

There Are Multiple Teams Still Interested In Acquiring James Harden

Even with all the drama surrounding James Harden right now, there are a lot of teams who are interested in acquiring the guard. In fact, NBA insider Howard Beck revealed that James Harden has multiple teams pursuing a trade.

“I don’t know who the teams are. I’m told there’s like three or four teams, counting the Clippers, that would have some interest.”

Hopefully, we see James Harden on a squad that is competing for a championship next season, whether that is with the Philadelphia 76ers or otherwise. He averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game during the 2022-23 season, and there’s no doubt that he can still be a contributor on an elite team.
