The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers had one of the most entertaining games of last night, but a moment has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Despite the action on the court, live viewers realized that Clippers commentator Jim Jackson ended up using a racial slur instead of saying the ‘Nuggets’. The clip of the same is going viral on social media.
“Whenever the Clippers made a run, this n****s, I mean, this Nuggets team has found a way.”

Jackson made an honest mistake and likely just suffered from a slip of the tongue at the moment. There’s no way he was trying to be malicious and say something like that on live TV. It’s an unfortunate situation to be caught up in, but the former 12-year NBA veteran has been a consummate professional throughout his broadcast career and will not be derailed by this slip-up.
The game was sensational, as DeAndre Jordan and Reggie Jackson terrorized their old team and led the Nuggets to a win despite being without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon. The Clippers played their big four in Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Paul George, and Russell Westbrook, but to no avail as they got completely out-hustled by the Nuggets.
The Clippers Have To Work Through On-Court Problems
Last night’s loss exposed many holes in how the Clippers have operated their roster under their current setup. There’s obvious dissonance on the court, with the superstars of the franchise not finding their rhythm yet. James Harden is averaging 14.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.2 assists so far this season, not even looking like the same player who led the league in assists last season. Russell Westbrook is struggling even more, missing clutch free throws in the loss last night and not adjusting to their new team.
Unless they trade Westbrook away, the team will be constantly asking their players to adjust between different rhythms, slower when Harden is controlling the ball and faster when Westbrook is controlling the ball. The pair can’t be played together and are causing major adjustments every time one plays over the other. So far, it looks like the Clippers may be slightly better with Harden on the court than Westbrook with their on-off numbers.
With minimal room to further tweak the roster, the Clippers need to make their current team compete at a championship level. Right now, it looks like they’ve given up all their draft equity in the 2020s to put together a rushed superteam without having the surrounding pieces around them. There’s no frontcourt depth after the Harden trade, which is further limiting how effective the Clippers can be amongst the best teams in the West.
The Nuggets loss should serve as a wake-up call for the Clippers, as they need to find a way to at least be good enough for a playoff berth with the top-end talent of their roster. Ty Lue has a hell of a job in his hand.
