Damian Lillard Beats Steph Curry As The Best Clutch Shooter In NBA GM Survey

2 Min Read

When it comes to NBA point guards, Steph Curry is often considered one of the best in league history.

But Damian Lillard is quickly taking over, as evidenced by the 2019-20 campaign when he led the Blazers to the playoffs averaging 30 points per game.

In a recent survey conducted on NBA.com, GM’s around the league actually picked Lillard as the guy they’d want with the ball in his hands, over Curry, Durant, and Luka Doncic.

Which player would you want taking a shot with the game on the line?
1. Damian Lillard, Portland – 32%
2. Stephen Curry, Golden State – 25%
3. Kevin Durant, Brooklyn – 18%
4. Luka Doncic, Dallas – 11%
5. Chris Paul, Phoenix – 7%
> Also receiving votes: Devin Booker, Phoenix; Jamal Murray, Denver
> Last year: Stephen Curry – 44%

Curry has more game-winners in the regular season, and also more team success to go with it. But Dame has more postseason buzzer-beating winners and has not had the same level of talent around him as Steph.

No doubt, what the Portland star was able to do in the bubble, and leading up to it, left a lasting impression on the NBA. The bubble MVP averaged 37.6 points, 9.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game during an 8-game stretch to end the season.

It remains to be seen what Dame is able to do in the upcoming season. With a new roster, a healthier squad, and a fresh new season, it should be a good run for the Blazers.

Nevertheless, it won’t be easy to come out on top in this ultra-competitive Western Conference. We’ll see soon enough if they’ve got what it takes.
