- Trail Blazers star gets real on his status as the NBA’s top three-point shooter
- Lillard gives credit to Steh Curry as the NBA shooting GOAT
- Expectations are still high for the Warriors as Steph enters his 15th season
Damian Lillard is one of the NBA’s most impressive long-distance snipers, but even he cannot deny Stephen Curry’s claim as the greatest shooter ever. Speaking on ‘Hometown Heroes,’ the Trail Blazers star made a very simple claim that conceded Stephen Curry as the world’s best shooter, even over himself.

It’s important to remember that Lillard is more qualified than most to have this discussion. For years, Dame has been sitting right behind Curry as an elite marksman with 7 All-Star appearances, 7 All-NBA selections, and a career scoring average of 25.2 points per game.
While Lillard may be better at hitting shots from farther away (Dame isn’t called ‘logo Lillard’ for nothing), Curry is the better overall shooter based on consistency, shot creation, and percentages.
Currently, Steph sits at a 42% hit rate from downtown, which is just ridiculous considering he’s made over 3,300 three-pointers in his career which is already the most in NBA history, ahead of Ray Allen, James Harden, Reggie Miller, and Damian Lillard (6th on the list with 2,387 threes made).
Steph Curry Is Still The NBA’s Top Point Guard
Steph turned 35 years old this past March, and some critics are expecting him to slow down this upcoming season. So far, Curry hasn’t yet shown signs of a major decline but there could be room at the top if another point guard steps up to the plate.
While his future is still uncertain, Damian Lillard could finally take that leap on the Miami Heat next season assuming they can keep their core intact after a deal with the Blazers. While doesn’t have the same shot as Curry, his role as a distributor does put some distinction between him and the 1x Finals MVP.
“I’m not trying to pit Dame over Steph or Steph over Dame. I’m just telling you they have different obligations. Dame has more of a workload to go through than Steph has,” argued NBA insider Chris Haynes.
For Steph to keep his place at the top, he cannot let up now. Just like he did in the past 10+ years, he’ll have to play lights-out as he carries the Warriors to victory. Fortunately, after coming off a season averaging 29.4 points, Curry seems as ready as ever to start a new season and you can bet that all eyes will be watching him to see how it all plays out.
