Daryl Morey Roasts Article That Claimed “The Process” Was A Failure: “That Is A Normal Procedure. Move On, Find A New Slant.”

Everyone in the city of Philadelphia knows what “The Process” is. Aside from being Joel Embiid’s nickname, the phrase refers to the arduous tanking approach from former GM Sam Hinkie, that continuously accumulated draft picks via bad performance in order to try and draft superstars. “The Process” has been viewed mostly as a success thus far, as the franchise has landed cornerstones Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Even though the 76ers have two All-Stars that have come out of “The Process” they have yet to win a championship. That has led some people to declare it a failure, and that is the approach that writer Keith Pompey has taken in his recent article. Daryl Morey roasted Pompey’s article, and suggested that he “find a new slant”

That is a normal procedure. Move on, find a new slant.

Daryl Morey is clearly joking around with his tweet, and it seems as though he is referring to a situation with former GM Jerry Colangelo, where him and his wife were linked with a series of burner Twitter accounts.

Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations and general manager Bryan Colangelo has resigned from the team. His wife, Barbara Bottini, admitted to establishing and operating a handful of anonymous Twitter accounts that were critical of players and other league executives and released sensitive team information, though an investigation by an outside law firm deemed Colangelo to be source of her information, an assertion that Colangelo disputes.

The accounts claimed that Ben Simmons wouldn’t have come to Philadelphia if Colangelo hadn’t replaced Hinkie in the front office, accused Sixers bloggers of being biased Hinkie loyalists, and boasted that the critically panned December 2017 trade of Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas, and a second-round pick for Trevor Booker “sounds better and better.”

Several posts wandered from organizational matters, debating the size of Colangelo’s shirt collars. When user @Philly_Asshole commented on the executive’s well-documented sartorial preference, “This dude just love collars,” Enoughunkownsources responded, “That is a normal collar. Move on, find a new slant.”

That is a funny reference from Morey to a prior incident within the organization, and while the 76ers do have some work to do, it is clear that their approach has been successful. They were the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference this season, and while they fell short of the championship this season, perhaps that will change in the near future.
