Daryl Morey’s Told Stephen Curry To Join Brother Seth In Philadelphia, Which Cost Him $75K

2 Min Read

Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey got himself in trouble after sending a tampering tweet to Stephen Curry. The NBA surprised fans when they announced the executive was fined $75K for breaking the tampering rules.

The tweet was sent on June 3, with Morey going all-in to lure Stephen Curry away from Golden State. The Warriors superstar tweeted a pic of his brother Seth, who currently plays for the Sixers. Morey saw a big opportunity to lure the 2x MVP and took it.

“Join ’em,” Morey wrote in the now-deleted tweet.

In doing so, the former Houston Rockets GM also affected his team, as the Sixers were fined $75K for Morey’s conduct.

The Philadelphia 76ers are doing well right now. However, adding a player like Steph would make them instant favorites to take the NBA championship.

This year, though, they are having a very good postseason. Even after losing Game 1 of their second-round series vs. the Atlanta Hawks, this team is still considered one of the favorites to come out of the East.

Maybe Morey is getting ready to pursue Steph if he decides not to sign a contract with the Warriors, but that is a really long shot. The league is keeping tabs on everybody during these times. Nobody can get away with these conducts, and Morey is a big proof of that.
