- Rodman took a shot at Shaquille O’Neal during a promotion at the AEW Collision
- The Worm returned to Chicago for the first time in 13 years
Dennis Rodman was known for his defensive prowess during his 14-year NBA career. But Rodman is a man of many talents, and doing wrestling promotions is among them.
Speaking of which, the five-time NBA champion recently made an appearance on AEW Collision in Chicago. During his promotion, Dennis Rodman took a shot at NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
“When I was playing basketball, Shaq was that big, and I whooped his a**,” Rodman said.

O’Neal caught a stray shot during Rodman’s promotion. It was the Worm’s first appearance in the ring since 1998 when he appeared on WCW Nitro. Rodman thoroughly enjoyed his return as he choke-slammed a wrestler.
The Acclaimed has arrived to the aid of Dennis Rodman and issue a challenge to Jarrett and his family tomorrow night LIVE on PPV at #AEWAllOut!

That’s not even the best part of the segment. Rodman also slammed a wrestler with a guitar. Yes, you heard that right.
Rodman is 62 years old right now, but he is in superb shape. After all, why else would he make a return to the ring? The former NBA star is slated for another appearance at AEW All Out.
Fans are still waiting for O’Neal to clap back at Rodman. Knowing Shaq’s outspoken personality, he won’t let it slide without giving a befitting response to the 62-year-old.
Dennis Rodman And Shaquille O’Neal Have Beef
Dennis Rodman won the fifth NBA title of his career while playing for the Chicago Bulls in 1998. Following the dissolution of the Bulls dynasty, Rodman landed a contract with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 1998-99 NBA season.
He was expected to become a mentor to Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, who were on the verge of doing great things for the Lakers. But things didn’t go as planned, and Rodman even claimed that Kobe and Shaq hated him.
“I knew Kobe and Shaq wouldn’t like me because the whole attention became Dennis,” he said. “They rarely would talk to me, even in games and stuff like that, they would rarely talk to me. I think that’s the main reason why they cut me.”
Rodman added: “I think they went to the upper head, and they didn’t want me there anymore.”
Well, it seems that the feeling is mutual. O’Neal once named Rodman as the worst teammate of his career.
“Worst teammate? Dennis Rodman,” O’Neal said. “He was a great player, but he made it hard. Like when you try to corral the guys together and the people above you letting this one guy do whatever he wants.”
He added: “So we had to be there an hour before the game, he come in 15 minutes before the game eating chicken and rice. While the coaches are talking, he would jump in the shower. Cold shower. Come and give you 15-20 rebounds.
“After the game, he don’t take a shower and be in a club with girls that look like you,” he concluded.
Rodman featured in 23 games for the Lakers, averaging 2.1 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Dennis Rodman Was Emotional After His Return To Chicago
Dennis Rodman was a key player in the success of the Chicago Bulls dynasty during their second three-peat from 1996 to 1998. He averaged 5.2 points, 15.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in three seasons for the Bulls.
Sure, Rodman led a crazy life off the court, but he never let that interrupt his performance on the court. Keeping that in mind, Rodman was emotional upon his return to the United Center in Chicago for the first time in 13 years.
“I get so emotional because they love me so much. I respect this city so much,” Rodman said. “Thank god they love someone who worked their a** off and I hope the city of Chicago would love me as much as I love them.”
Chicago is like a second home to Rodman. It’s all thanks to his amazing contributions to the team during his playing career.
Returning to Chicago brought back memories for the Worm, and it led to this emotional response. If Rodman becomes a regular on AEW’s roster, fans may see more of him in the future.
