Dennis Schroder Didn’t Want To Defend Moses Moody On The 3-Point Line: “So Damn Disrespectful”

Dennis Schroder wasn't interested in trying to defend Moses Moody, who was wide open for a three-pointer in the corner.

Dennis Schroder has been quite impactful for the Los Angeles Lakers in these playoffs, especially with his strong play on defense.

On one particular play in Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors, however, Schroder wasn’t interested in playing any defense. He just waved off and looked the other way when Moses Moody attempted a three-pointer.

Moody does shoot a decent 36.3% from beyond the arc for his career, so this might not have been the smartest idea. Then again, if the German did run toward him, that’d mean Stephen Curry would be wide open and that’s definitely the worst-case scenario for the Lakers. Moody missed the shot too, so perhaps Schroder made the right call, although head coach Darvin Ham might not be too pleased with that.

Moody’s miss summed up the night for the Warriors, as they shot just 39.6% from the field and 29.5% from beyond the arc as a team. Their offense completely fell apart and they’ll be hoping for a bounce-back performance in Game 4.

Dennis Schroder Has Been A Great Signing For The Lakers

While Schroder is far from being an elite point guard, he is a great backup, and signing him on a minimum deal has proven to be a great decision. He has made some good reads on defense in this series and in Game 3, he ruined a play that the Warriors designed for Klay Thompson.

Schroder has also played his part in keeping Curry in check, as the Warriors superstar hasn’t really had a great game in this series. Guarding Steph has proven to be quite exhausting as well, as the German hilariously said after Game 1 that he might need an IV. Despite expending so much energy on that end, he is still contributing offensively, averaging 11.7 PPG in this series, which sees him only rank behind LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and D’Angelo Russell for the Lakers. Draymond Green called him the X factor on L.A. and the German looks set for a nice payday this offseason.
