With chaos ensuing all around the NBA (looking at you Dallas and Portland), the Phoenix Suns are in the middle of a magical “Cinderella” run that has them just a win away from reaching the NBA Finals.

And while winning is its own reward, the Suns do have a bit of extra motivation to get the job done: validation for CP3, who still has not yet won an NBA Championship.

In a chat with the media, Devin Booker spoke on the mission at hand, and how helping Chris Paul get to a level he’s never been before is giving them a bigger boost:

“I have a lot of respect for him as a man, not even as a basketball player. Just understanding how bad he wants this, and how much time he’s put into it. Sixteen years, that’s a long time,” Booker said of Paul, per SB Nation.

When we made the Western Conference Finals, he’s like ‘I’ve only been here one time.’ So we know how bad he wants it. Same with coach Monty, I get that same feeling from him. Me and Deandre are sitting here, and Mikal, this is our first time in (the playoffs). It’s a little spoiled but it came with a lot of work. But we definitely have his back.”

The funny thing is, most of the guys on that roster have even less playoff experience than Paul. For Bridges, Booker, and Ayton, this is their very first time on this stage.

Nonetheless, the team is rising to the occasion in an inspiring fashion.

It will be interesting to see if they can close this out and bring home the title.
