Devin Booker’s Mamba Mentality After Game 2: “It’s A 0-0 Mindset For Us Going Into Game 3. Every Game Is A Game 7.”

The Phoenix Suns took a commanding 2-0 lead in the 2021 NBA Finals after a 118-108 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. While Giannis Antetokounmpo was great for the visitor team, Devin Booker was on a mission with the Suns, too. 

The shooting guard went off, responding to Giannis’ 42 points with 31, leading the Suns to a big win. This team looks flawless right now, and many people believe the Bucks can’t win more than one game at best. However, the job is not done, and Booker is well aware of that. 

After the game, DBook explained that the Suns see every game as the last, and they try everything to win. 

“It’s a 0-0 mindset for us going into Game 3,” Booker said. “It’s a Game 7 for us. Every game is a Game 7 at this point of the season. We’re locked in. We know it gets rowdy in Milwaukee, but we’re ready for it.”

This reminds us a lot of Kobe Bryant’s mentality and his inability to show emotions until after completing the task. 

Curiously, before Game 2, Book talked about the Black Mamba and his impact on his career. In a conversation with Malika Andrews of ESPN, Booker said that Kobe would be telling him to finish the job and not think of anything else. 

“Finish the job. That’s what he’d tell me.”

He’s keen to do so after dominating his rivals in the first two of the series. Book is a man on a mission, and he won’t rest until the Suns win the championship. This kid is something else, and fans are enjoying his evolution this playoff. 

The future is bright for the 24-year-old. The Suns are in a privileged position now, but Book isn’t taking things for granted. He knows there are still things to do before calling himself an NBA champion.
