Kobe Bryant is one of the best players to ever grace the game of basketball, well-known for his scoring ability and difficult shotmaking. The Los Angeles Lakers legend notably won five championships and two Finals MVP awards during his tenure with the team.

It is no secret that Kobe Bryant based his game on Michael Jordan’s playstyle. The two are often compared, both for their on-court ability and their accomplishments. In fact, Dominique Wilkins has recently claimed that Bryant is the only player that should be compared to Jordan in the GOAT debate.

“The closest thing to him was Kobe”, said Dominique Wilkins. “Kobe Bryant…People who played against Kobe, they know. They know. They know.”

There is no doubt that there are ample amounts of personal testimonies and video clips that support the idea that Kobe Bryant is the closest thing to Michael Jordan. Both of them had a penchant for showing up in the biggest moments and were highly proficient in the midrange area.

Kobe Bryant is definitely among the ten best players in NBA history, with career averages of 25.0 PPG, 5.2 RPG, and 4.7 APG. He was also an 18-time All-Star and a two-time scoring leader. Bryant appeared in the Finals seven times throughout his career.

Kobe Bryant Always Believed He Was Better Than Michael Jordan

There is no doubt that Kobe Bryant is frequently considered to be a confident basketball player. He hit the most difficult shots in the biggest of moments, and it is impossible to do that without having confidence and hours of practice.

In fact, Kobe Bryant’s confidence was so great, that he believed that he was actually better than Michael Jordan. Previously, Lamar Odom opened up on Bryant’s drive and confidence.

“He said he was better than Mike”, said Odom, “You gotta understand his drive. There ain’t too many dudes that played in the NBA and that really mean it in their heart, like… ‘I’m gonna be better than LeBron James.’ And that’s where he chased his whole life. To be just as good or mentioned with Michael Jordan”.

There is no doubt that a lot of people view Kobe Bryant very highly, including himself. In fact, he was considered by some to be the most skilled player in history, even over Michael Jordan.

The GOAT debate is always subjective, and who one has as the GOAT generally depends on the criteria. However, it is easy to see why some people have Kobe Bryant as the GOAT, as the shooting guard was truly special.
