Draymond Green is an important cog in the Golden State Warriors system. He is the best defender on the roster and his playmaking ability allows him to find others for open shots a lot of the time.
Utah Jazz coach Quin Snyder has previously stated that Draymond Green should be in MVP talks. Snyder admitted that Green’s numbers aren’t exactly typical for an MVP candidate, but added that “he does it his way”. It is true that a lot of what Draymond Green does to impact winning doesn’t show up in the box score.
“I think If you want to put someone in the MVP conversation, he’s someone to me… Maybe the numbers don’t match up to some of the numbers that some other guys put up…He just does it his way.”
Draymond Green has recently commented on Snyder’s praise towards him, saying that he agrees with what the coach is saying. He stated that “there’s something to be said” for his impact on winning, and added that Snyder “sees the game for what it is”.
Draymond Green on Quin Snyder including him in MVP talk:
"I agree with him, and I think that's someone who sees the game for what it is…I don't think it could have been explained any better…The things I do to impact winning, I think there's something to be said for that."

While it is highly unlikely that Draymond Green wins the MVP this year, there’s no doubt that he is a winning player, and he is still one of the favorites for the DPOY award. He is one of the reasons that the Warriors have had a top-tier defense this season.
Hopefully, the Golden State Warriors see Draymond Green return from his absence soon. They can still win without him, but with his return, the Warriors will be back to being the well-oiled machine on both ends that they have been all season. They are definitely better when Draymond Green is playing, and perhaps we’ll see him get more recognition for his contributions going forward.
