Landing a star in the NBA Draft is one of the toughest things any team can do. There’s no such thing as a can’t-miss talent or a sure home run, even with the first overall pick, as we’ve seen over and over.

A true testament to that is the 2012 NBA Draft class, who featured some of the best players in the league like Anthony Davis and Bradley Beal near the top of the board, while others like Draymond Green and Khris Middleton slipped all the way to the second round.

That’s why Green and Damian Lillard took the liberty to look back on that class and give their insight on how the 2012 NBA Draft class should have gone.

“I think I would be the second pick in our draft” 🗣@DamianLillard and @Money23Green discuss how they felt they were undervalued in the 2012 NBA draft and how a redraft would shake out today. Watch the debut episode of “Chips”https://t.co/hV8N46Wqu5 https://t.co/5ZMyaxaoDm

Damian Lillard, who was taken with the 6th overall pick, said he should have been the 2nd overall pick behind Anthony Davis, while Draymond Green added that he saw 15-20 forwards that he knew that weren’t better than him.

Green slipped all the way to the 35th spot and made the league as a second-rounder. In their re-draft, whoever, he said that only Anthony Davis (1st), Damian Lillard, and Bradley Beal (3rd) should have been drafted ahead of him.

Looking back to the past, he may have a valid point. Players like Thomas Robinson, Dion Waiters, Terrence Ross, Meyers Leonard, Kendall Marshall, Fab Melo, Jarred Sullinger, and even Marquise Teague were all picked before Green, who’s now one of the greatest defenders ever, a former DPOY and three-time NBA Champion.
