Draymond Green: “It’s About That Time Of The Year I Start Shooting 40% From Three.”

Draymond Green often gets a lot of flak for his lack of offensive contribution. When the Golden State Warriors are healthy, and he can focus on playmaking and defense, no one raises the ceiling of the team like Draymond, but he is far from being an offensive engine if that’s what the team requires from him.

Having said that, it’s not like Green is unable to score, he had 4 straight seasons where he averaged above 10 points per game for the Warriors, which happened to coincide with their championship runs. Draymond’s scoring has dropped off noticeably since then, although with the amount of confidence he has, Dray believes that he can pick it back up soon.

While he may not have been a prolific scorer at any point in time, Green seemed to hit some important three-pointers for the team in key moments during their era of playoff success. And he’s gearing up to do it again, after hitting 2 three-pointers in a win over the Sacramento Kings.

“It was great, I had told myself coming into the game that I’ll fire anything. And then I hit those two and I stopped firing. But it was great… You know, it was really good to see those two go in, I missed a couple bunnies that I’ll make, it’s something I don’t worry about.

“This is my time of the year when I hit shots though… so you know how those teams be playing me, I love that. It’s about that time of the year that I start shooting 40 (percent) from three.”

The Warriors are hanging on to the 3rd seed without Steph Curry but the Dallas Mavericks are hot on their tail and could catch up with them in that race. Having a fully firing Draymond would be a huge boost for the team and it remains to be seen if he can live up to his aim of shooting 40% from three-point range.
