Anthony Davis spearheaded the Los Angeles Lakers’ victory in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors.

Davis registered 30 points, 23 rebounds, and 5 assists vs. the defending champions of the league. Following the game, Draymond Green had nothing but praise for AD, especially his mid-range shooting.

“He’s a great player,” Green said. “Very athletic. Great rim protector. His shot was going in tonight. I felt like he made every one of those mid-ranges he took. You got to live with some of those, but I think we can do a better job individually and collectively to take some of those away.”

Anthony Davis has always been a threat from mid-range. Whenever he finds his touch, it’s almost impossible to stop him, and that’s what happened in Game 1 of the series.

For the game, Davis shot a solid 57.8% from the field, with the majority of his made shots coming from mid-range.

Stephen Curry Talked About Facing Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers have several players who have what it takes to impact the result of a game. But Anthony Davis is undoubtedly the most important player on the current roster of the team.

When Davis has a good game, the entire team feeds off his energy. Moreover, AD is also the defensive anchor of the team. Stephen Curry talked about how tough it is to play against Davis in the postgame interview.

“For sure. It’s also because of how they’re playing us,” Curry said when asked about facing Davis. “They know they want to take away our threes, even though we got 50 of them up. They want to try to put pressure on the perimeter, funnel everything into the paint, and allow him to disrupt a lot and close the space pretty quickly. It’s kind of deceiving. You feel like you have a good look to get it over the top, and he gets a fingertip on it.

“You got to respect it. That’s how he makes an impact on that end of the floor, and you can’t be stubborn, thinking you can just keep going in there. You still got to be able to drive and put pressure on the rim, but you can do it in a creative way. So, yes, you got to feel it because it’s impactful.”

Davis is currently averaging 4.3 BPG in the 2023 NBA playoffs. AD has truly taken his game to the next level in the postseason, and the Lakers are benefiting from it.

The big man has instilled fear in the opponents in the paint and they think twice before attempting a shot over him.
