Speaking on his podcast, Warriors star Draymond Green gave high praise to Lakers rookie Bronny James. Draymond predicted a successful career for Bronny and insisted that he will be better than many players in his class.

“We all know what Bronny went through a year ago,” said Draymond. “To go through that and make it back from that and be in the NBA within a year, is a testament to his drive and work ethic. I think Bronny is going to end up being a better pro than a lot of these players in the 2024 draft because he has the athleticism, has the basketball IQ, plays the game the right way. I think he’s going to be a good shooter in the NBA. I’m just going to take the bet that this kid works hard, which he does, and he’s got LeBron James’ DNA. And then you watch him play, and he’s a good basketball player.”

Before his inaugural season at USC, Bronny (19) experienced a serious health scare in the form of a cardiac arrest. He was eventually given a clean bill of health but the whole experience set Bronny back by months and it’s a miracle he was able to play without any fear or hesitation on the court.

Today, months after the incident, it’s almost like it never happened and Bronny entered the draft with several potential suitors. Of course, he landed with the Lakers and will enjoy playing his rookie campaign as a teammate to his own dad.

While he only averaged 4.8 points per game in college, Bronny has been hailed for his competitive spirit and exceptional work ethic, which should help him improve and elevate his game over more time and experience in the league.

As the 55th pick, Bronny may not see time on the court right away but head coach JJ Redick is sure to give him some time to shine and the whole world will be tuning in to watch history be made.

Unfortunately for Bronny, he didn’t inherit his dad’s height, speed, or strength, but he’s got a similar level of determination and grit that was enough to at least get his foot in the door. Now, it’ll be up to Bronny to keep his career alive by hitting shots and making plays when it matters most.

Draymond Green, like many others, is confident that Bronny will succeed and he’s got a good support system in place to ensure that he does. But it takes someone special to persevere through everything he has and now that Bronny has made it to the top, we can expect him to do everything he can to stay there.
