Draymond Green had his take on the ongoing MVP battle between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic, and he appeared to be leaning in favor of the former.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Draymond Green Podcast, the veteran had a rather elaborate say. “What I am talking about is I just don’t think there’s been enough separation between anyone to say it’s this guy or that guy,” he explained.
Green also added that Embiid was on a tear this season, and the Philadelphia 76ers were winning, while the Denver Nuggets have been on a slide.
“I think that has to account for something,” the Warriors star said. “So in my MVP race with 13 games or how many ever these teams got, I think Joel has definitely created a tad bit of separation, but in saying that, you have to change the mind of voters. Voters the last 2 years have favored Jokic, and he’s won it 2x, so you have to change that mindset of voters. That’s a tough thing to do in changing anyone’s mind about anything.”
The MVP candidacy has been one of the hottest topics in the NBA right now, and Green is the latest to join the list of those who have shared their two cents on Jokic vs. Embiid.

Should Joel Embiid indeed win MVP, it will be his maiden victory, but the Sixers’ big man doesn’t appear to be interested.
Speaking to the media after the team’s win over the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this month, he had a rather cold response to the whole discussion.
“MVPs, Defensive Player of the Year, that doesn’t mean anything to me,” Embiid opined. “I’m still going to be the best player on the floor.”
When asked about who his favorite was to win the award: “I don’t know, that’s not for me to answer. I feel like, obviously, being in the run for the last two years has been whatever. This year, I’ve taken a different approach, just trying to focus on the right things. Win games. Dominate, which I’ve been doing. And whatever happens, happens.”
The big man has been scintillating for Philadelphia this season. At the time of writing, he has been averaging 33.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. With these kinds of numbers and the team’s strong run in the East, it’s no surprise that Green has his pick sorted.
