  • Dwight Howard was arguably the biggest snub from the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team
  • Dwyane Wade spoke up for him and defended his case to be included
  • Dwyane Wade said Dwight Howard is easily one of the greatest NBA players of the last two decades

Dwight Howard recently found out that he will not be signed by the Golden State Warriors despite working out with them.

The former superstar center has been dealing with some big snubs in the latter half of his career, and maybe the biggest one was being left off the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team in 2022. But Dwyane Wade has vocally come to his defense on that front now.

“One thousand percent,” Dwyane Wade told Shannon Sharpe when asked if Dwight Howard should have been Top 75. “In multiple years. But not just like he got it (DPOY) because he’s big.”

Dwyane Wade then went on to add, “I really don’t understand. I know a lot of people have a lot of things to say about Dwight Howard as his personality or whatever people like to take a shot at. But when it comes to that man’s actual work, the body of work… It’s undeniable.

“He took that team to the Finals. You can pick a lot of guys to be on this team, it’s all subjective. But when you’re talking about this generation, these last 25 years, how many names can you think of where Dwight Howard’s name is not in there?”

Dwyane Wade made it to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team himself, but it’s good to see him sticking up for a rival like this. He also acknowledged Tracy McGrady and other legends who were left off the list but felt Dwight Howard being snubbed was truly tough.

Dwight Howard’s Career Achievements Are Vastly Underrated

Dwight Howard’s list of accolades gets talked about a lot, but not enough people truly acknowledge everything he achieved.

Dwight Howard is an 8-time All-Star and has been named to five All-NBA First Teams. He also has three more All-NBA Team selections to his name one Second Team and two Third Team.

His defensive prowess makes him even more unique. Dwight Howard is a 3-time Defensive Player Of The Year. On top of this, he has four All-Defensive Team selections to his name to go along with one All-Defensive Second Team.

Dwight Howard led the league in rebounding on five occasions and was the NBA’s blocks leader twice too. On top of that, he carried the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals as the main man on the team.

Dwight Howard became an NBA champion, although he was a role player. In terms of legacy points, he was also the Slam Dunk Contest champion in 2008. It’s a surprise more people in the NBA community weren’t up in arms about his omission.

LeBron James Agreed That Dwight Howard Being Snubbed Was Bullsh*t

This snub took place over a year ago and many people have spoken out about it since then. Dwyane Wade’s former teammate, the great LeBron James, even went as far as to agree with a take that referred to the snub as bullsh*t.

“Facts,” James wrote in response to a fan saying, “Dwight Howard not being on that Top 75 list is still some lemon pepper bulls**t.”

Dwight Howard will not forget the snub quickly, and it seems his peers won’t either. At the moment though, a bigger priority for him is to find an NBA team that will let him return to the league.
