Dwyane Wade was selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. Wade played 16 years in the league, winning three titles, among various other accolades.

The Miami Heat legend will soon be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a part of the class of 2003. While Dwyane Wade made a lot of memories during his time in the league, but his first meeting with Michael Jordan was nothing sort of legendary.

“It’s my cousin, in the party. He came up to me and he said, ‘Bro, Michael Jordan is here,'” The three-time NBA champion told Rachel Nichols. “And I said, ‘Where’s he at?’ So I think he playing games with me, and I’m like, ‘Where he at?’ And he’s like, ‘He’s outside. They won’t let him in. Bro I’m not playing.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, so let’s go.’ So we beeline out the door.

“Right out the door, there’s a slew of motorcycles. And Michael Jordan is sitting right there on one of the motorcycles, I rolled up right up to him, it was like seeing a ghost. And I went right up to him, and he said, ‘I just wanted to come and show you some love.’ He felt a way, I don’t know why they wouldn’t let Mike in.”

Dwyane Wade then claimed it was the coolest experience of his life.

“But yeah, he was outside, he was on a motorcycle and he said, ‘I came to show you some love.’ Congratulations, and the whole welcome to the NBA kind of thing. So that’s a true story. That was my first time meeting Michael Jordan and it was the coolest experience ever. He was sitting on a motorcycle looking cool as s**t.”

Now, that’s one way to be congratulated for getting drafted into the NBA. Dwyane Wade will never forget his first meeting with the Chicago Bulls legend.

As for his career, Wade averaged 22.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game. He is a 3x NBA Champion, 1x NBA Finals MVP, 8x All-NBA Selections, 3x All-Defensive Selections, 13x NBA All-Star, and 1x NBA Scoring Champion.

LeBron James is one of the closest friends of Dwyane Wade. The two superstars also played four seasons together on the Miami Heat from 2010 to 2014.

Despite that, Wade upholds Jordan as the greatest basketball player of all time. Wade did mention that he has a lot of respect for what James has achieved in the league.

He also claimed that if James can win a few more championships he may surpass ‘His Airness’ as the GOAT. But for now, the Chicago Bulls legend is the GOAT for him.
