• LeBron James once put a young child on the wrong side of a vicious poster dunk

• James was part of a basketball camp in 2011 where this incident took place

• The kids and James were playing the classic training game, ‘Knockdowns’

Summertime in the NBA often sees players fulfill all their obligations that don’t relate to getting on an NBA court and playing for meaningful wins or losses. Players either vacation, fulfill sponsor obligations, or practice.

Many players host their own basketball camps, reaching out to children and giving them opportunities they may not get otherwise. LeBron James used to host basketball camps as well, once viciously dunking on a child after missing a free-throw line jumper in the training game, ‘Knockdown’.

‘Knockdown’ refers to the training exercise where players line up and take a shot from the free throw line. If they make it, they go to the back of the line. If they miss it, they need to scramble for the rebound and shoot it from the spot they regained control of the ball.

The poor kid James dunked on had actually missed two shots prior to LBJ flying in for his dunk. Everyone had a good humor about it and that kid has a story he can share even now.

LeBron James Is Always Up For The Challenge

Throughout his career, LeBron has leaned on being aggressive whether it helps him or not. On the court, his most successful way of scoring is arguably driving into the lane and finishing with a dunk or layup. He is known to be a master scorer nowadays, as he sits atop the league’s all-time scoring charts.

James has had some missteps in his career but there’s no questioning his ability to keep moving forward. His aggression and desire to win is what caused the Lakers to make a very expensive Anthony Davis trade in 2019 that paid off but that same aggression also went into the poorly-thought move to add Russell Westbrook to the franchise in 2021.

For better or worse, James is aggressive and demands to get what he wants. That’s how he has put together 20 seasons in the NBA with an overall average of 27.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game in 1,421 regular season appearances.
