Eddie Johnson Sparks A Big Debate While Talking About LeBron’s Longevity: “Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, And Michael Jordan Were No Longer Relevant At 37. That Lets You Know How Great LeBron James Is.”

LeBron James remains a big source of controversy in the NBA. The King is in everybody’s mouth even when he doesn’t do anything, creating big debates around the league.

LeBron’s longevity has received a lot of praise, and recently, Eddie Johnson made a big comparison between the Los Angeles Lakers superstar and other legends who according to him, were no longer relevant at age 37.

Bron is a couple of weeks away from turning 37, and he’s still going strong. Johnson took to Twitter to give his props to the 4x NBA champion, saying that other big names like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan weren’t relevant at this age.

It’s amazing how LeBron at almost 37 is still being ripped for struggling, when he has an AD in his prime and not living up to expectations. Magic, Bird, Duncan, Hakeem, and Jordan were no longer relevant at 37. That lets you know how great LBJ is. “Keep it moving.”

This sparked a huge debate, with fans calling Johnson out for ignoring what Jordan and Duncan did for the game, stating that they two were still relevant long after their prime.

Jordan wasn't relevant because he was retired. He was still the best player in the nba in 99 he just didn't play

Hate to break it to you, but LeBron isn’t relevant at 37 either. Also, MJ won a chip, MVP, scoring title, Finals MVP, and all defense first team at age 36. Lebron will do none of that this year. Don’t die on this hill man it’s a bad and weirdly biased look

— Comp23610 (@BC23610) December 10, 2021

Tim Duncan All NBA first team and all defensive first team you and RJ Hampton tripping also Lebron is 36 and came out of HS and Jordan was out for 2 and half years Bird and Magic retired at 29-31 due to health issues and Dream was winning titles at 34 and 35 no context lebron

Time Duncan won a championship at 37 beating Prime Lebron, D Wade and Bosh by a record margin. Leave Timmy out of this Eddie.

It's amazing how many people make excuses for bron after he hand picks his team, after he tries to get all the players he possibly can and still stans make excuses LMFAO

You already admitted to getting paid to prop up Bron

Credibility is already thrown out the window

LeBron is great, but does not even come close to playing the same caliber of competition that Jordan, Bird, and the rest played back in their prime. Today's ball players are all about themselves getting on sportcenter. Defense is a lost art.

The only reason lebron is relevant now is because he has a superteam with ad and russ, put him on the MJ wizards and dude wouldn't be relevant for championship contention at all ! The allstars around him keep him relevant 💯

— Omega (@Omega60103383) December 11, 2021

Tim Duncan?

Dominant at 37? No, though on a given night could still have a dominant game.

Relevant? It was announced after-the-fact he would’ve been FMVP in ‘13, & was a central piece to a historical motion offense for the ‘14 title team. He wasn’t coasting his twilight years.

– Tim Duncan's Spurs defeated LeBron James and effectively broke up the Miami Heat super team with one of the most lopsided NBA Finals series in history, winning by an average margin of 18 points per game. Tim was 38 when those Finals ended.

— MVP Texas (@MVPTEXAS) December 12, 2021

Jordan was retired, but came back and dominated many to carry the Wizards at 38-39. TD stats weren’t career-high, but he led the team in blocks, was like 4th in ASTs, was efficient, dependable, and went to WCF. They knew when it was time, though. LBJ may almost be there.

— PdillaBexar (@PdillaBexar) December 11, 2021

At 37, Duncan remained dominant
In 2012–13 he was named, first-team All-NBA for the 10th time in career
At 37, he led the Spurs to the 2013 NBA finals
His stats :17.8 pts per game,9.9 rebs and shot 50% from the field. in the 2013 Finals vs Miami 18.9 pts and 12.1 reb per game

— reynald (@reynald82263255) December 11, 2021

Funny thing is, they’ve all accomplished the same OR MORE, in a shorter time span. They didn’t hang around STAT-PADDING on POORLY-CONSTRUCTED so-called” superteams that hinder the younger roster. AD is wasting his best years, only to win a BUBBLE RING 🤷🏾‍♂️

— Kai Jones (@kajapapi) December 11, 2021

Saying Jordan wasn’t relevant at 37 is idiotic, he was absolutely relevant. He was cemented as the best off his 2nd 3 peat and was an immediate legend, bron is still chasing that ghost in year 100 or whatever year he’s in

— NBA King (@nbaking44) December 11, 2021

Tim Duncan played until he was 40, collecting 5 NBA championships in 6 trips to the Finals. At age 38, he won his 5th title, defeating the Miami Heat’s Big 3 that included LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Some may say Kawhi Leonard was the key for the Spurs that season, but TD did a terrific job all season long.

As for Jordan, he also played until his 40, too, spending two seasons with the Washington Wizards, where he was in the MVP conversation until an injury ruined his form. Even after retiring for the second time, he was the most famous player in the world following a second three-peat with the Chicago Bulls.

We’ve seen players play for several decades, some with more success than others, and Bron is still trying to add another championship to his already impressive resume.
