WNBA star Angel Reese might not have played on the court since a wrist injury sidelined her for the rest of her rookie season in early September, but her name is just as popular as ever. Reese shared the qualities she’s looking for in any potential love interest on her podcast ‘Unapologetically Angel’, telling her co-hosts that she will only date a man who’s taller than 6’7″ and in the NBA.

“Nah like, he got to be tall. 6’7″-6’8″, be an NBA player.”

Reese is reportedly in a relationship with Detroit Pistons’ center Jalen Duren, but the same hasn’t been officially confirmed by anyone. Duren would clearly fall into the category Reese is looking at, as the 22-year-old seven-footer has a promising future in the NBA.

Given how notable Reese is as a person, there’ll be plenty of interest in whoever she starts dating whenever that happens. Up until then, fans are going to continue hoping they get a shot even without meeting Reese’s small list of requirements. If they thought Reese would show any interest in them compared to an NBA player, they were the ones mistaken.

Reese averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in her rookie WNBA season for the Chicago Sky. While she broke records for the longest double-double streak in WNBA history and become one of the most proficient rookie rebounders in league history, her shockingly poor efficiency needs to improve over the offseason so that she can take a sophomore leap.

Angel Reese Has Made It Clear She’ll Only Date Other Athletes

Angel Reese opened up on her preference of dating athletes in an earlier episode of ‘Unapologetically Angel,’ where the WNBA rookie explained in detail why she thinks an athlete would be a better fit for her than just a regular dude.

“You don’t see a lot of relationships where the woman is just as dominant as the man, where the woman can provide for herself without the man. He has to bring something completely different to the table because there’s nothing you can buy me that I can’t buy for myself.”

“Probably quality time, and that’s hard too because, well, I only mess with athletes. I’m 6’3″, where am I going to find… I mean, maybe I need to find me a little lawyer who’s 6’3″.”

“I usually date basketball players, and the NBA season and the WNBA season, I mean, obviously, it’s different now—my off-season is their season, so I can make that work. But when I was in college, it was a no. I couldn’t go to college games, I couldn’t go to NBA games because it was literally the same season.”

If the links between her and Jalen Duren are true, she’ll have a supportive NBA center as her boyfriend, with the pair possibly even working on their skills together. They’re both young post players with a bright future in the league, so it’ll be interesting to see them grow and thrive together.
