Fans React To Warriors’ New Death Lineup: “Another 6-Seed Season Incoming”

The Golden State Warriors made an extremely high-risk trade this summer by getting off the long-term Jordan Poole contract by getting an expiring veteran in Chris Paul. Paul may not score like Poole, but he brings some solid fundamentals and maturity to this veteran team.

The new Warriors’ death lineup will see Paul run out with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green, something that fans on Twitter do not love.

One fan didn’t love the lineup at all due to the fall-off CP3 and Klay Thompson have had defensively.

A fan remarked on the extremely short lineup and said a 6’7″ player would dominate them.

Another fan just shared a gif of Chris Paul, implying CP will hold them back ultimately.

Another fan said that they are far too injury-prone to get out of their own way.

Some fans were extremely unimpressed and said any team in the league could stop this lineup.

CP3’s concerning history of disappearing when his team needs him the most caused some fans to trash on the lineup.

The injury history on this roster is very concerning and a fan believes that’ll cause their ultimate downfall.

The old death lineups worked for two main reasons. The players here were almost a decade younger when they implemented these lineups in the 2014-15 season. Future iterations of this included Kevin Durant, a seven-footer that can block shots.

This lineup will need Andrew Wiggins and Draymond to do everything defensively, something that just isn’t sustainable.

The Warriors Fumbling Their Offseason

The only major moves the team has made this summer are acquiring Chris Paul, drafting Brandin Podziemski, and signing Cory Joseph. The team is yet to acquire a center behind Kevon Looney, as some top targets are going off the boards. Mo Bamba just signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, and the best option for them on the board seems to be either Bismack Biyombo or Christian Wood.

They have lost valuable players like Donte DiVincenzo without an obvious plan to replace them. The load on the core trio will increase this season, as their performances will have to make up for a lack of depth. Chris Paul will be crucial in running the bench unit with a calm presence and could unlock Curry as an off-ball movement player once again when they share the floor.

The top-tier talent can lead them to great success, but this doesn’t look like the makings of a championship roster.
