Former LA Clippers player Patrick Patterson took a shot at Tyronn Lue by accusing him of favoritism with certain players on his team.

The retired forward took to Twitter to call out the Clippers’ head coach saying, “Ty Lue still continues to show favoritism towards players everyone knows shouldn’t be playing. Amazing to see things still ain’t changed.”

Patterson’s comments come on the back of the Clippers trailing the Phoenix Suns 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs. While the team is without two of their star players in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, Lue’s rotational changes have raised some eyebrows.

He was referring to the fact that Lue brought in Marcus Morris as a starter ahead of Nicholas Batum in the last game, and the move backfired as he ended with just 9 points. Those who caught the game felt that the coach had ample options in Bones Hyland or even Terence Mann, who could have made a better choice.

With 3-1, the Clippers are already on the brink of being eliminated, and Lue would perhaps look at bringing in some players who could fill in better for Leonard or George.

Tyronn Lue Has Faith That The Clippers Can Bounce Back, But Have Things Changed For The Worse?

Despite losing Game 2, Tyronn Lue maintained that the Clippers were still in the contest

“Our guys are gonna keep competing and keep scrapping,” he told the media in the aftermath of the loss. “We think we can win this series. That’s the biggest thing. One-hundred percent of the battle is believing. We believe we can do it. I think [we need to] clean up some things a little differently. Like I said, I like where we’re at, I like what we did tonight.”

Things have changed since, and the Clippers went down two more games. While Russell Westbrook has been putting up with the numbers in the absence of the team’s superstars, there hasn’t been enough help on the offensive end for him to close out the game against a formidable Suns unit.

The two teams play Game 5 at the Footprint Center, where LA will fight to stave off elimination.
