The Los Angeles Lakers might be the one franchise linked to every remotely available player before the trade deadline. The Lakers have been vocal about wanting to make trades and have already begun by acquiring Rui Hachimura from the Washington Wizards. The team has more holes in their roster, though, and adding quality role players would elevate their chances of getting back to the postseason.

Anthony Davis has made his return to the court, and LeBron James is still playing at a level that most people can’t even believe. If AD can stay healthy, the Lakers have every chance of making the playoffs in the Western Conference. But if they want to win some series if they get there, then more quality depth on the roster is necessary. And Jay Williams has named a player that could be a potential missing piece.

“I think Fred VanVleet can be one of the missing links for this team that can add to everybody personnel wise on their roster.”

Fred VanVleet is a guard with championship experience, someone that can give a team 20 points a night while dishing out over 6 assists. Many teams could use someone like VanVleet, but for the Lakers, who are seemingly looking to upgrade from Patrick Beverley, he could be a very good addition. It’s hard to tell if this acquisition would move the needle for the Lakers, though.

Los Angeles Lakers Fans Discuss The Possibility Of Trading For Fred VanVleet

The Los Angeles Lakers aren’t really in a position to turn down quality players if they are available at a reasonable price. LeBron James is someone that will want to stay winning. But fans seem to be split on potentially adding VanVleet.

“Either him or Rozier is the perfect fit for our PG position!”

“Hell nah, bro, he’s washed.”

“I’d rather keep Patrick Beverley no joke.”

“Y’all tripping, VanVleet would immediately become our 3rd best player.”

“Lol Bron will never let this happen.”

“I’m ok with this if we can get rid of Pat and Russ.”

“I will stop following the Lakers if it happens.”

“VanVleet could be a surprisingly good move for us.”

“I’m not mad at this if we can get him cheap.”

“Anyone but this chucker, please.”

Fred VanVleet’s efficiency has fallen quite a bit this season, he is shooting under 40% from the field. But he can be a difference-maker on the court, and that cannot be overlooked. However, he has a player option for next season on his contract, so the Lakers would need to be certain of what he’s thinking before making a move like this.
