LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were most well known for their partnership on the Miami Heat, and the duo won two championships in 2012 and 2013 during the time they were together on the squad.

The two ended up on different teams at the end of Dwyane Wade’s career though, with Dwyane Wade retiring on the Miami Heat after the 2018-19 season, while LeBron James was starting his stint on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Obviously, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James being on different teams made for some interesting matchups between the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers. During one of those matchups, Dwyane Wade was guarding LeBron James, while his wife Gabrielle Union can be seen yelling at him.

Dwyane Wade has recently revealed what his wife was saying to him at that moment, claiming that she was telling him to “fight back” like a particular scene from popular fighting movie Rocky 5.

Anybody ever seen Rocky 5? When Rocky had to go in an alley and fight Tommy Gunn? Remember that scene where it’s like “Fight back you bum, fight back.” That’s what my wife was telling me. I’m 37 guarding LeBron James and my wife’s like “Fight back you bum, fight back.”

It’s hard for any defender to guard LeBron James, let alone Dwyane Wade at 37. There’s no question that Dwyane Wade was still a solid player at that time, but asking him to take on such a difficult defensive assignment might have been a little much.

With that being said, it is certainly good that Gabrielle Union was trying to encourage him to fight back and take on the challenge of guarding his former teammate. It is extremely respectable that Dwyane Wade was willing to do so, as LeBron James is still demolishing defenses even now. LeBron James still has elite offensive performances, and he’s definitely still one of the best players in the world.
