The NBA is working really hard to make it safe for players to resume the season. They’ve put together quite an interesting prevention protocol for the Orlando bubble that’ll keep players entertained within the confines of their hotels by trying to keep social distancing.
In that note, the league is reportedly going to mandate the use of a ring that’ll detect the symptoms of the coronavirus even three days in advance, so players can isolate themselves and medical staff can reach out to them as soon as possible.
While that may sound pretty reasonable, it seems like that would put an end to Gerald Green’s attempted comeback this season, as he recently posted on social media:
“Welp I guess I can’t play I ain’t got a finger because of a ring”, the swingman posted on his Instagram story.

Green lost a finger at 11-years old while dunking with a ring on his hand. It didn’t prevent him from fulfilling his dream of making it to the NBA, but obviously he’s wary about dunking with a ring on again:
“I was teasing my brother, ‘You can’t jump this high,’. I went up and I yanked my finger off. It was still intact but they couldn’t save it during surgery. If I could palm a ball I probably could have more dunks than I have in my career, but I still can get the job done,” Green said back in the day, as we previously reported.
Gerald Green was among the eligible players to sign a contract this season with the league’s expanded rosters. Any contending team would’ve certainly used his explosiveness and three-point shooting. Now, it seems like he’ll have to wait until the next season.
