With a roster that includes Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez, Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, and superstar point guard Damian Lillard, the Milwaukee Bucks are among the heavy favorites to win the 2024 NBA championship. But as the fans in Milwaukee salivate at the thought of what’s to come, the Greek Freak spoke out publicly to remind the world that they still have a lot to prove.

“We haven’t won anything,” said Giannis on his new partnership with Lillard. “There’s going to be a lot of hype around us, but we haven’t done anything. We haven’t even played a game yet. So, we can talk about it all day, but at the end of the day, our actions speak louder than words. But we have an opportunity to do something great, and that’s exciting for me.”

Giannis already achieved basketball immortality when he won a title for the Bucks in 2021, but his drive to win has never died and his goal is to continue to compete for titles until the end of his career. This summer, after much consideration, the Bucks showed the ultimate loyalty to Giannis by making good on their promise and bringing him a true co-star to play with. But now that they are together, the hard work can finally begin.

Giannis And Lillard Are The Best Duo In Basketball

As one of the top 75 players ever, Damian Lillard’s greatness should provide a massive offensive boost for Milwaukee. Lillard, a 7x All-Star, is coming off the best season of his career in Portland, where he averaged 32.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 4.8 rebounds over 58 games for the Blazers. For the Bucks, he brings scoring, playmaking, and elite ball handling and it should make an excellent pairing next to the Greek Freak.

As a 2x MVP, Giannis remains the alpha dog for the Bucks and experts are expecting his best season yet with his new star point guard creating additional opportunities for him to attack. So far, Antetokounmpo has been nothing but optimistic about this season, but it’s true that winning will not be easy, especially with how stacked the NBA has become.

Milwaukee Bucks Are Facing Some Steep Competition

This offseason saw a number of teams build up their roster. In the East alone, teams like the Celtics, Nets, Hawks, and Raptors are all expected to be better than they were, and the Bucks cannot afford to take anyone lightly. Going back to the 2023 playoffs, everyone believed they were a lock for the NBA Finals before their sudden and unexpected loss in the first round.

This year, nobody knows how it will play out — but both Giannis and Dame are out of excuses to lose. If they fail to get it done in 2024, it could be something that stays with them for the entirety of their career and Giannis will have no choice but to call the campaign a failure. Needless to say, the pressure is on for Giannis and Lillard to succeed, even if they have yet to accomplish anything together.
