Giannis Antetokounmpo On What It’s Like Having A Second Kid Now: “Before, We Were Playing Zone… Now, It’s Man To Man.”

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has accomplished great things over the course of his young NBA career. As one of basketball’s leading players, he’s certainly got loot to be proud of.

But, as Giannis would no doubt tell you, his greatest achievement is what he’s made of the court: a family.

A father of two, Antetokounmpo is in a great stage of his life, and he sometimes sheds some light on that part of his world.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, the Greek Freak answered a question about his experience having two young children at home, and he hilariously explained what makes two different from having one.

“Giannis, can you talk about the new addition to your family? Are you changing more diapers? Is it a man-to-man coverage?”

Giannis: “Exactly like you said. Before, we were playing zone defense. It was me and Mariah, we had Liam in the middle. Now it’s man-to-man. It’s tough, but I enjoy it.”

The couple announced their second child back in May, in an Instagram post by his girlfriend, Mariah Riddlesprigger.

“Oh and I forgot to mention baby #2 is on the way and I’m in for even more life lessons! My kids are my biggest blessing and my greatest lesson! I know it’s a cliché statement, but it’s the truth! Becoming a mom has helped me realize what I am capable of; physically, mentally and emotionally. My son has taught me more about patience, perseverance and passion in these past 15 months than I have ever known,” she wrote.

“But most importantly he’s opened my eyes to my true potential. I’ve made it through sleepless nights, teething and the beginning of toddler tantrums, and at this point I feel invincible.”

It’s great to see that Giannis and his family are doing well, and there is no doubt that he’ll be doing great things on the court this season, too.
