Giannis Antetokounmpo Says The MVP Award Is Not His Main Focus: ‘I Want To Bring The Big Trophy’

Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for the NBA restart, where his Milwaukee Bucks will try to continue their dominance over the rest of the league. Before the suspension, they had the best record in the league, becoming the fastest team to reach the playoffs, with Giannis playing great basketball, becoming the favorite to win the Most Valuable Player award.

A lot has been said about the MVP winner this year, especially after the hiatus. While Giannis remains the strongest candidate to take the prize home, Bron is getting more and more ‘informal’ votes every day. However, Giannis isn’t worried about all that talk, as he’s focused on the biggest prize, the NBA title.

Talking to the media, he addressed the current MVP debate between him and the King.

“I know there’s going to be a lot of people out there talking about the MVP. That’s not my main focus. Get better. Win games. Help my team play good basketball. Go and try to win the big trophy, the last time we did that was 1971,” the Bucks star said, per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.

The NBA announced that the MVP vote will be based on the performances between October and March. That said, it looks like Giannis is locked to win the award over LeBron. The Bucks had the best record in the NBA with 53-12. The Greek Freak is averaging 29.6 points and 13.7 rebounds per game while shooting 54.7 percent from the field.

He has improved the things he did last season, where he won his first MVP award. He’s ready to conquer everything, but the MVP is not what keeps him awake at night. Giannis wants to win that ring at any cost.
