It is not often that the son of a good/great player in the NBA goes on to achieve greatness in their basketball career, but Gilbert Arenas’ son might just end up eclipsing his father. Alijah Arenas, now a freshman at Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles, has been making some waves and the older Arenas is incredibly proud of him.

Alijah is averaging 29.0 PPG and 8.6 RPG this season, and he looks set to follow in his father’s footsteps and make it to the NBA. The older Arenas recently had an interview with Vlad TV where he said that Alijah, when he was in eighth grade, scored 20 points against former NBA player Nick Young in an adult league.

“He was in eighth grade, he was playing adult league and it was going and I gave Nick the benefit of the doubt that he had 30-something. They sent me the scoresheet, they both had 20. So, Nick had only 20…. But that’s gonna happen though, when you’re playing in adult leagues and stuff like that you’re not taking it NBA serious. But, it’s still an eighth-grader bro… As soon as my son finished the game, he called me (and said), “I scored 20 on Nick Young.'”

It is just Nick Young, but that is still quite impressive from him. If he can keep his head down and also stay out of trouble, unlike his father, then he could become something special in the NBA. The older Arenas said quite a lot during this interview, and he had an interesting theory on the Golden State Warriors.

Gilbert Arenas Says The Warriors Released The Video Of Draymond Green’s Punch To Lower His Salary

One of the most talked about moments of 2022 among basketball circles, for all the wrong reasons, was Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole during practice. Warriors owner Joe Lacob admitted that he was worried after the incident, especially after he saw the clip.

Arenas, though, believes that the team itself leaked the clip as a means to lower Draymond’s salary demands. It would be justification for letting him walk if they can’t agree on terms, and it is a wild theory. We really don’t see the Warriors doing something like that, but you never know.
