Kevin Durant has been open and honest about his expectations in Phoenix. Even after what the Suns had to give up to get KD, they still have one of the best starting lineups in the league and are favored by many to win the title this season when KD finally returns from injury.

But if the Suns somehow fall short of their title pursuit, what would it mean for Durant’s legacy as one of the All-Time greats?

Speaking on the ‘No Chill’ podcast, Gilbert Arenas chimed in with his take and explained how it’s championship or bust for the new-look Suns.

“This is not even a question. You have two guys that’s capable of 50, 60, 70 right now. Both half-court players, both mid-range players, both players you can’t actually play one-on-one. They will eat you alive so you have to scheme for them. They were just having trouble scheming for Booker himself so now you just added arguably the best scorer in today’s game right now… which means if you don’t win now that’s the biggest failure, f**k the Nets group. This would be the greatest failure for Kevin Durant.”

It’s not just the Suns’ roster that makes this such a golden opportunity for Durant. It’s also the fact the West is wide open right now. With no runaway title favorite this year, the Suns can step into that classification when KD takes his place in the lineup post-All-Star break.

Devin Booker And Chris Paul Are Ready To Face The Pressure

A lot has changed for the Suns in just a few days. Not long ago, there were questions about the core and whether or not the title open was still open for an injury-riddled and underachieving team.

With KD now, all of that is thrown out the window, and it’ll be up to CP3 and Devin Booker to ensure they live up to the challenge and make the most of Durant’s arrival.

Both stars seem up for the task so far, and Durant himself has said nothing but positive things since joining the squad. But without a single game played between the three of them, it’s hard to be sure that the Durant/Booker/Paul trio will be as good as we’ve all imagined.

But there is no question that they have the talent to win it all, and there will be no comparing the disappointment if they fail to get it done.
