Gilbert Arenas didn’t mince his words when he slammed the comparisons between Victor Wembanyama and LeBron James, saying the latter’s legacy was ruined.
Speaking on VLAD TV, Arenas looked confounded when he heard that Wembanyama was a better prospect than James.
“Then he can’t be a better prospect,” Arenas quipped. Technically, LeBron was compared to Magic [Johnson] and Michael Jordan right? So if Jordan and Magic are the number one entities in the world right, and then you’re making LeBron No. 2, but you’re saying LeBron can’t be Jordan, and he’s compared to LeBron, and technically saying he can be a better prospect to LeBron.”
“We know what LeBron was compared to, he was compared to your highness, so is Wemby compared to Michael Jordan?… Listen they have already ruined his legacy.”

Wembanyama has been constantly compared to James since he was connected to Los Angeles Lakers superstar before his foray into the NBA.
Now that he will be playing for the San Antonio Spurs and against James, the comparisons have been inevitable.
Victor Wembanyama Says He Has No Pressure Despite Being Constantly Compared To LeBron James
Despite being labeled as a generational talent, and being compared to James, he remains unfazed with all the adulation and pressure surrounding him.
Earlier, in an interview with JJ Redick on his podcast, he said there was no pressure from being compared to James.
It is clear that Wembanyama is brimming with confidence and that is reflected in his interactions. Prior to the draft, he came in averaging 21.6 PPG, 10.4 RPG, and 2.4 APG for Metropolitans 92.
There have already been murmurs about Wembanyama being the GOAT. “He’s the best player in the league and the level of players he’s playing against are the best players in the Pac-12, the best college players, borderline NBA guys — and he’s dominating. Dominating. Wembanyama’s physicality, I think people underestimate because he’s so thin. He’s a physically strong dude,” an NBA agent said.
Only time will tell if he indeed lives up to all the hype.
