For any talented youngsters aspiring to make it to the NBA, there are few better examples to take inspiration from, both on and off the court, than LeBron James. Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas knows that too, and the three-time All-Star had some words of advice for his son Alijah.

The younger Arenas had secured a pass to enter the Los Angeles Lakers locker room during his freshman season in high school, and his father told him to focus on LeBron’s locker when he got there. Alijah did just that and informed his father about what he saw.

“His locker was pristine,” says Alijah, via Andscape. “Everything was in place, no dust and even his cologne was in alphabetical order.”

The tiniest details do matter, and they reflect on how meticulous LeBron really is when it comes to his preparation for games. Everything has to be done perfectly and while some may view it as a bit much, it is what great players do.

It is part of the reason why LeBron has won four championships, four Finals MVPs, and four MVPs and stands today as the all-time leading scorer in the NBA. Slacking a bit or not paying attention to every minute detail isn’t supposed to be acceptable if you want to be great, and it is a good lesson for Alijah.

The Future Seems Very Bright For Alijah Arenas

It is not often that sons of NBA stars turn out to be better than their fathers, but Alijah does have a chance. The teenager has been making waves in the high school circuit after averaging 30.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game as a freshman at Chatsworth High School.

ESPN recently ranked him as the best shooting guard of the 2026 class, and overall, he was ranked as the fifth-best prospect. He clearly has the talent, and if Alijah puts in the hard yards and focuses on the small details, he could potentially one day become a star in the NBA.
