Grant Williams Had Hilarious Message For Stephen Curry’s Jersey Retirement: “I Wore 30 In High School Because Of You, And I’m Not Wearing A Ring Because Of You.”

Stephen Curry lived another magical day on Wednesday, as he finally received his diploma from Davidson College, 13 years after leaving the institution to become an NBA player. It wasn’t easy, it wasn’t quick, but he returned to college and fulfilled the promise he made to his mom, getting his diploma once and for all.

This honor also helped Steph to get his jersey retired from the men’s basketball team, which was only possible if he finished his major. Well, now Steph is a Bachelor of Arts with a major in sociology, as well as a 4x NBA champion. Many people were in awe of him with this new accolade, including LeBron James, who didn’t hesitate to congratulate him.

Others made an appearance on Steph’s special day, even if they were far away from North Carolina. One of them was Curry’s rival in the 2022 NBA Finals, Grant Williams. The Boston Celtics big man revealed he was a big admirer of the Chef growing up, but now that they’re rivals in the league, it’s hard to lose against Curry.

During the jersey retirement ceremony, many current and former Wildcats players sent messages to Curry in pre-recorded videos. Williams happened to be with Brendan McKillop at Basketball Without Borders and took his chance to send a hilarious message to Steph.

“I wore 30 in high school because of you, and I’m not wearing a ring because of you.”

Williams was one of the best and most consistent players on the Boston Celtics this past season, a key part of their success alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. As we all know, the Golden State Warriors handled the Celtics in six games to win their 4th championship in eight years, demonstrating that their dynasty is far from over.

The C’s tried hard, but the championship pedigree of the Dubs helped them get the best of them, leaving no chance for Williams and co. It’s cool to see that Curry inspired a lot of people, including one of his current rivals. Williams played for Tennessee, but it was good to see that he took some time to congratulate Steph, who keeps adding accolades to his resume.

The Warriors will try to defend their championship next season, while the Celtics will be keen to get their revenge and prove that they’re ready to become the next dynasty in the NBA.
