Hassan Whiteside dished out a stellar 43-point performance for his new team Piratas de Quebradillas. His scintillating outing also included 19 rebounds.

The ten-year NBA veteran, along with Brandon Knight signed with the Piratas this season. His 43-point explosion comes as a reminder that he still has what it takes to return to the NBA.

The 33-year-old last played in the league for the Utah Jazz in the 2021-22 season averaging 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while predominantly serving as a reserve to Rudy Gobert. His career averages read 12.6 points, 10.8 boards, and 2.2 blocks.

Whiteside, a ten-season veteran in the NBA, has plied his trade for the Sacramento Kings, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Jazz. Prior to the trade deadline, he was linked to the Brooklyn Nets along with DeMarcus Cousins but found no takers.

His latest performance will surely have garnered the interest of the teams in the league as the 2022-23 regular season comes to an end.

NBA Fans React To Hassan Whiteside’s Whopping 43-Point Performance

Those who followed Whiteside’s career and his recent performances will firmly believe that he would return to the NBA. While there were doubters who believed that this was the bare minimum in a league.

Here are some of the responses from fans. [Please note that the comments have been edited for clarity]

For starters, Lakers fans weren’t far away. “Hey @Lakers…we could use a big man for AD,” one of the comments read.

Heat fans knew of his talent. “Hassan was nasty with the Heat then he fell after glad he still getting the bag.”

One fan was surprised that Whiteside’s numbers didn’t really make an impact in the NBA. “Funny because his NBA stats are also crazy but somehow never made an impact.”

One fan hoped he put up Wilt Chamberlain numbers in Puerto Rico.

The doubts continued: “I always question why we don’t see guys like Dwight, Hassan, etc. go to Europe at the end of their career? Are they not even good enough there?? Sure, this looks impressive but the PR league is a major step down from NBA and even the Euro competition.”

One can only hope that Whiteside will figure out a way to get back to the NBA. Only time will tell if he will indeed have a solid run with the Piratas.
