The Western Conference was dubbed the strongest one in the NBA after an entertaining trade deadline. Several teams made big moves that brought them close to the championship.

However, three superstars in the conference are reportedly confident that they can make some damage come playoff time.

“Durant, LeBron, Curry and the rest of those Warriors, they smell something. They smell weakness in the Western Conference. Don’t confuse all of this stuff together for strength, it is a weak conference.

“I’m saying that here in March. If we get to May, and Jokic and the Nuggets, and Ja and the Grizzlies are in the Conference Finals, they can give the middle finger to all those teams. But right now, those teams smell weakness. Durant’s coming back, LeBron’s coming back. LeBron’s coming back on a bad foot because he smells weakness.”

Windhorst adds that the top teams in the West have a chance to compete, but time will tell if they can do so. Right now, the experience is in favor of the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns. The Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers, and even the Dallas Mavericks will have to work hard to earn a spot in a potential NBA Finals.

The Lakers, Warriors, and Suns have been part of the last three NBA Finals, something the rest of the teams haven’t done. Even with their good regular-season records, they need to prove their worth against the big teams.

The Western Conference Is Up For Grabs This Season

This NBA season presents big questions for a lot of teams. The Western Conference appears to be the stronger one, but the experience will play in favor of certain teams once the playoffs start. Kevin Durant is coming back this Wednesday, while LeBron returned a couple of days ago

All the teams already mentioned will try to make it to the Finals in a couple of months, but only one of them will have the chance to play for the championship. Things are about to get interesting in the West, as many teams are set to take the top spot or at least have home-court advantage for a couple of rounds in the postseason.

Right now, the Denver Nuggets lead the West with a 51-24 record, followed by the Memphis Grizzlies (48-27), Sacramento Kings (45-30), Phoenix Suns (40-35), and Los Angeles Clippers (40-36). The Warriors rank 6th (40-37), taking the last free-play-in spot, while the Lakers sit at 9th with a 37-38 record.
