LeBron James has missed the last 13 games for the Los Angeles Lakers due to injury. During this time, the new-look Lakers have managed to climb up to the 8th seed in the Western Conference. They have two games coming up against the Chicago Bulls, and as per the latest update, LeBron could return to play the first of those on Sunday.

“The Lakers have upgraded LeBron from doubtful to questionable. Game tips off in about 3 1/2 hours,” Dave McMenamin of ESPN tweeted. Adrian Wojnarowski provided a more comprehensive update, writing: “LeBron James is expected to test his foot pregame to see if he can make his return today, source says.”

LeBron James’ return from injury has been highly anticipated as the Lakers make a late push to secure the 6th seed and make the playoffs. He picked up a right foot injury that has kept him out for a month, but having him back will greatly increase the team’s chances of going on a winning run to end the season.

James has provided frequent updates on his status himself, posting on social media that he has been recharging for a return to the Lakers. He recently called out reporters talking about his return date, explaining that he was capable of announcing it himself. LeBron was upgraded to doubtful for the first game against the Chicago Bulls, and this latest update shows that he could even play today.

Adding LeBron James Will Be A Massive Boost For The Los Angeles Lakers

There has been quite a bit of trash-talk surrounding the Bulls game, Anthony Davis fired back at Patrick Beverley saying that he wanted to end the Lakers’ playoff hopes. While Chicago has been on a good run of form themselves, not many were anticipating that they would have to go against LeBron James.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 7-3 in their last 10 games and are on a 3-game winning streak. Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and Austin Reaves have been leading the charge, and adding LeBron, who is averaging 29.5 points per game this season, will make them even harder to play against.

The Los Angeles Lakers have 8 games left to make their mark, and if they can win even 5 of those, they would put themselves in a terrific position to make the playoffs. Having 8 regular seasons to get back into game shape would be massive for James as well, and could set him and the Lakers up for a very special playoff run.
