With the Los Angeles Lakers clinging to their last remaining playoff hopes, the return of LeBron James has become an increasingly important factor as the season winds to a close.

Recent reports indicate that James could be targeting the final week of the season to make his return, but the Lakers star has shot those rumors down in his most recent Tweet.

“There wasn’t an evaluation today, and there hasn’t been any target date for my return,” James wrote. “I’m just working around the clock, every day (3X a day) to give myself to best chance of coming back full strength whenever that is. God bless y’all sources. I speak for myself!”

While LeBron did not elaborate on when he’ll be back on the floor for L.A., it seems he isn’t so sure about his future either, given the extent of his foot injury, which is being described as ‘serious.’

As James considers his recovery options, the Lakers have to keep grinding out wins in hopes of staying alive to sneak into the playoffs and give themselves a chance. Without him, they’ve been doing well enough, with Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves leading the way.

But without LeBron’s production, especially offensively, the Purple and Gold just don’t have enough to compete with the best of the West.

LeBron Taking Extra Measures To Speed His Recovery Process

At 38 years old, nobody is expecting James to stay healthy and play every game over a long, 82-game season. But he needs to be ready for this team now, and it seems he’s going above and beyond to make himself available for his team.

“From what I’m told, LeBron is turning over every stone he possibly can from a treatment perspective to get that foot in position to return at some point this season,” reported Brian Windhorst earlier this month.

Only time will tell if James can come through and pull off a miracle for the Lakers, but the odds haven’t been this stacked against them in a long time.

To come out of this situation victorious, it’s going to take a near-perfect and cohesive effort from everyone on the team. And until we know when James is able to return, there will always be doubts about them reaching their true potential.
